ARES - is an Artist in Residence Program, curated each year from 1996 by art organiser UTO Gusztav and it is based at the ETNA Foundation, St.George Sepsiszentgyorgy / Sf. Gheorghe, Transylvania, Romania.
The ‘ARES'2006 will host its first International Performance Art Exchange with Northern Ireland. Ares will take place between the 18th - 23rd of July.
To celebrate the beginning of ARES touring performance art program and expansion, the ETNA Foundation has co-initiated a collaborative manoeuver with art/ist organisers - Sinead O’DONNELL based at Queens Street Studios, Belfast, N.Ireland and art historian Ileana PINTILIE, Levente KOZMA - Simultan & h.arta artists and art groups based in Timisoara / Temesvar.
The aim of this exchange is to stimulate the creative impact of performance by producing and highlighting works from Northern Ireland / Eire and from Transylvania region of Romania, artists will record the cultural realities in contemporary art, as it happens.

The events will involve artists working in a diversity of approaches to performance; exploring poetry, action art, sound, linguistics, time-based and body art. Discourses of practice and new methodologies will approach areas that deal with gender, sexuality,identity, cultural commonalities, communication and socio-political issues.
Participating artists will make performance works at two main sites in St.George and Timisoara.

Az ARES egy Vendégművész Program , amelynek kurátora Ütő Gusztáv művészeti szervező, székhelye pedig a sepsiszentgyörgyi Etna Alapítvány keretén belül működik, Erdélyben.
Az ARES idén első alkalommal lesz házigazdája az Észak-Írországgal közösen szervezett performance-művészeti csereakciónak. A rendezvény július 18. és 23. között zajlik Sepsiszentgyörgyön és Temesváron.
A jelenlegi rendezvény az ARES - Vendégművész Program kibővülésének ünnepélye. Kezdeményezője az Etna Alapítvány, társszervezője pedig Sinead O’DONNELL a Belfast-i Queen Street Studios részéről, valamint Ileana PINTILIE temesvári művészettörténész és KOZMA Levente a Simultan és h.arta csoporttól.
Az eseményen részt vevő észak-írországi és erdélyi művészek itt születő munkáinak célja a performance-ban rejló kreativitás kibontakoztatása a műfajra jellemző közvetlen kommunikáció eszközeivel.

Az meghívott művészek többféleképpen közelítik meg a performance műfaját, amely így keveredik az akcióművészet, hangköltészet, nyelvészet, idő-alapú művészet és body-art elemeivel.
A rendezvény alatt szabad beszélgetésre kerül sor, amelyek fő témái a nemek, szexualitás, identitás, kultúra, kommunikáció és társadalompolitikai kérdések, az új eljárások és módszertanok tükrében.

Art Exchange 2006 reprezinta o initiativa de colaborare, dezvoltata de artisiti si organizatii artistice din Irlanda de Nord si Romania – in principal Sinead O’Donnell si Queen Street Studios din Irlanda de Nord, Uto Gustav si Fundatia ETNA din Sf. Gheorghe, istoricul de arta Ileana Pintilie, Kozma Levente si Huba Antal de la Simultan, artisti si grupuri de artisti h.arta din Timisoara. Proiectul este realizat cu sprijinul Arts Council din Irlanda de Nord si a birourilor British Council din Belfast si Romania.
Scopul acestui schimb este de a stimula impactul creativ al actului de performance, prin productia si punerea in evidenta a unor lucrari din Irlanda de Nord, si din Transilvania, Romania, de catre artisti care vor inregistra realitatile culturale in arta contemporana, pe masura ce acestea apar.
Artistii participanti la acest demers vor performa in doua locatii principale, din Sf. Gheorghe si Timisoara. Artistii invitati sunt Prof. Alastair McLennan, Sandra Johnston, Brian Patterson, Brian Connolly, Elina Hartzell, Sinead O’Donnell si Hugh O’Donnell, iar gazdele sunt Kolumban Hanna, Szabo Krisztina, Toro Attila, Uto Gusztav si Vetro Barnabas.
Artistii vor experimenta o diversitate de abordari de performance exploratorii: poezie, arta de actiune, lingvistica, arta de tip time-based si body. Discursuri despre practica si noi metodologii vor aborda subiecte ca genul, sexualitatea, identitatea, elementele culturale comune, comunicarea si aspectele socio-politice.
