Almost three years ago the people from Erdővidék, then from the whole territory of Háromszék and Hungary joined their forces to gather the money necessary for the life-saving operation of Imola Bocz-Zoltán, suffering from leuchaemia. As a result of several months' efforts, Imola got a chance to recover in Miskolc, Hungary, however, her weakened organism could no longer fight with the killing disease. Now the people of the region are compelled to join their life-saving forces again: the five-year-old Ferike Szőcs from Băţanii Mari will need a similar operation.

Two years ago the little boy's hands and legs started to hurt without any visible reason, then even walking became extremely painful for him. His parents took him to Baraolt first, from there he was sent to the paediatric section of the hospital from Sf. Gheorghe, to lady doctor Molnár. The results were not obvious, further examinations were carried out in the Fundeni Oncological Institute from Bucharest, where it turned out that he was suffering from leuchaemia. Ferike spent eight months in the capital. When he was released from hospital, they were told that he could be treated at home as well. His mother became a professional nurse, and everything seemed to be all right. The blood counts made weekly in Baraolt were considered good, and the monthly controls in Bucharest also showed that there was hope of recovery. Although he did not go to kindergarden, he played, learned and developed a lot, just like his mates, only some occasional pains reminded of his disease. The serious problems started at the end of June, when the pain in the limbs increased, then it became obvious during the control from Bucharest at the beginning of July:

Ferike needs an operation in order to recover.

The bone-marrow transplant, depending on where the operation is carried out, costs 100,000 - 150,000 euro, but the father working as a forester and the mother working as a nurse cannot afford it, as they have already spent all their saved money so far on treatments. Elek Zoltán, Imola's grandfather has also sided with the matter, and they hope that as a result of the compassion of the people from Erdővidék and the joining of forces of the people from Hungary and of the Hungarians from all over the world this sum of money, which is huge from a simple Transylvanian person, will be gathered again.
